![]() ![]() Britain acquired a series of special privileges in Tibet through various types of unequal treaties forced upon the Qing Government. ![]() During the period of the British colonial rule, India was used as a base by the British to extend its influence into China's Tibet. ![]() Their social systems are not only different from that of China, but there are also issues between them left over from history pending solutions. It embodied the major content of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-Existence. This principle was expounded in the common Programme adopted by the First Session of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on 29 September, 1949 as well as the Announcement of the Central Government of the People's Republic of China made by Chairman Mao Zedong at the proclamation Ceremony Marking the Founding of the People's Republic of China. ![]() Shortly after the birth of New China, Chairman Mao Zedong stated on many occasions that China was ready to establish diplomatic relations with all countries which are willing to observe the principles of equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty. ![]()
